HEARING FOR THE FIRST TIME

This video is of Sarah Churman, a 29 year old mother of 2, who after receiving an implant in her ear is able to hear for the first time.  It effected me greatly when I saw it, and I wanted to share it with others in case you have not seen it already.

She was born with a rare genetic deformity that means she's missing the hair in her inner ear that transmits sound to the brain. She was fitted with her first hearing aid at age 2, but even with that technology she could only hear some vibrations and loud noises. She compensated throughout her life by becoming adept at reading people’s lips. She could speak very well but was unable to hear the sounds. Amazing.

She had never been able to hear her husband speak, her children laugh, the birds sing, or the sounds of the ocean.

While all of us have physical ears and can hear the physical sounds around us, most are still unable to hear spiritually. When one is able to hear spiritually for the first time, the overwhelming emotional joy is similiar what you see in the video.

"Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not;

and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand."
